At South Downs Funeral Service, we are proud to have our very own Jaguar XJ fleet. The quality of these vehicles is in our opinion beyond reproach. They are based on the Jaguar XJ saloon then converted by Wilcox Limousines, specialist coachbuilders in their field.
The splendour they provide when seen as a funeral cortege can never be underestimated.
The hearse provides the highest standard of care for the deceased, whilst the limousine provides air conditioned comfort for the family. For a family who require a larger cortege, we are able to provide a matching fleet of Jaguar XJ limousines.
The vehicles are garaged at our Denmead funeral home. Any inspection is welcome by appointment.
We are also able to provide other options in regards to funeral transportation, so the family are not restricted to a traditional hearse and limousine. Indeed, the form of funeral transportation chosen by the family can often reflect the life of a loved one.
Paul recalls a funeral service that he conducted whilst working at W. Wraight & Son in Emsworth,
I remember that the deceased was a boat builder and as such the funeral was arranged with this in mind. Instead of using the traditional hearse, a custom built deck was attached to the back of a speedboat. The coffin was secured to the deck and conveyed to the church and cemetery by a 4×4 vehicle, with our hearse acting as flower carrier.
We can also provide a horse drawn hearse in either black or white with matching horses. Other choices may include the use of the motorcycle hearse where the side car has been adapted to accommodate the coffin. Currently, you can choose from the Triumph for the traditionalist, the Suzuki Hyabusa for the racing enthusiast or the Harley Davidson for that unique sound!
